Review of:  Fisher Price Think And Learn “Code-A-Pillar”

Fisher Price has a new line called Think and Learn which are 21st century toys that fosters curiosity, experimentation and problem solving thinking for children fo today.  It helps children use hands on techniques and open ended discovery that helps the children become life long learners.  Children of today need these skills to learn to survive in the 21st century.

The “Code-A-Pillar” is made up of segments, starting with the head segment, which is motorized and has lights, sounds and blinking eyes that bring the pillar to life.  Kids disconnect the segments and then reconnect them to make the Code-A-Pillar change directions and go forward, left, right or wherever.  There are endless combinations that send it in numerous paths.  Children need to problem solve and plan and use critical thinking to mix up the segments and send the Code-A-Pillar in different directions.  There are cool sounds and lights everytime this takes place.

Included in the basic set is 1 sound segment, 3 straight segments and 2 right and 2 left turn segments. It takes 4 AA batteries.  It needs a hard wood floor to make it work  best and it needs a lot of space.  It is gender neutral anad is for ages 36 months to 8 years old with the older child better understanding the way it works, but the younger one having fun pushing the button and watching it change directions.  It weighs 3 pounds and is 16.1x4x13 inches.  There is, also, an add on package that one can get if he wants to.  Children have a lot of fun with this new toy.codeapillar-2
